What to expect

Taking that first step into your counselling journey may feel scary, however, our first session will be an opportunity to get to know one another, for you to ask any questions you have and to agree how we would like to work together moving forward. Everything will be done at your pace and with you in control of what happens next.

First session

In our first session we will talk through the counselling contract and privacy policy to ensure that you are comfortable and happy to begin. We may then explore some goals and hopes that you have for your counselling journey.

Reviews

We will regularly review how you are finding the sessions and may revisit your initial goals to see if they have changed. These reviews are also an opportunity for you to feedback about what is working well and raise any concerns about what isn't.

Expectations

I feel it's important to say that there are no expectations from me about what you bring to sessions. Some people experience big life traumas and counselling can be a really helpful way to process what has happened to them. For others, it may be day to day challenges that are having an impact that can be just as helpful to explore and process.

Ending counselling

In our reviews we will reflect on any positive changes counselling is having for you and talk about when you are ready to end the sessions. Following this decision, we will work towards the agreed date, reflecting on your progress, exploring tools you could use moving forward and making space and time for the end of our work together
